 Grading Policies

Overview:  Your grade in this class will be partially determined by your understanding of the reading, your formal writing, and your demonstration of these in your class participation on the Discussion List.  For your own enrichment, you might want to consider that setting aside time for careful reading of the texts and participation in the Discussion List are critical to your learning and success in the class!

You will be graded on:

1.  Twice-Weekly responses to the Reading and Discussion with your colleagues.

2.  Research Paper

3.  Take-Home Final Exam

Your grade in Literature 24 - Contemporary Literature - will be based on your written work: reading the discussion list and twice-weekly postings, Research Paper, and Take-Home Final Exam.

1. Formal Papers

The Formal Papers for the class will count for 75% of your grade.

Two Written Assignments will be required of those seeking a grade.  If you wish to take the class Credit/NoCredit, you need only do the Weekly Assignments and Research Project. See about these below:

A.  Research Project. (60% of grade)

B.  Take-home, written Final Exam. (15% of grade)

2.  Weekly Postings (25% of your Grade)

The quality of your weekly postings for the class will count for 25% of your grade (note, you must post twice-weekly during each week to receive a passing grade at all!).  This includes all forms of participation in the Discussion Group - you need to read the posts of your colleagues carefully and be responsible for the material therein!!.

If you wish to pass the class at all, with a C or with Credit, you must read the discussion list and post twice a week.
